Juan Luis Espinosa is an associate in the Patent Department of Arochi and Lindner’s Mexico office. He is a trained Biological and Pharmaceutical Chemist with PhD studies in Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology with more than 10 years of experience in patent practice concentrating in the chemical, medical device, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
He has a substantial experience as a technical specialist in patent strategy; patent litigation including both, infringement and nullity actions; prior art searches and technical opinions on patentability of an invention; Freedom-To-Operate and non-infringement analysis; as well as national and international patent prosecution with a particular emphasis in research projects of plants, cell cultures, transgenic crops and animals. His experience includes seven years as Patent Examiner at the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) entrusted with substantive examination of the Biotechnology area.
Juan Luis holds a Pharmaceutical Biological Chemistry Degree from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla and a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology in the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (CINVESTAV-IPN) He is co-author of three research papers in journals of international arbitration, he has presented more than ten works in national and international meetings and has participated in eight IP courses given by the World International Patent Office (WIPO), the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) and the European Patent Office (EPO).
Fully committed to his lectureship, Juan Luis has been an undergraduate, master and doctorate professor at the Professional Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (UPIBI-IPN) and the CINVESTAV-IPN).
