New Judicial Bodies Specializing in Transparency and the Protection of Personal Data.
July 3, 2025
Proceeding from the Decree that issued the General Law of Transparency and Access to Public Information; the General Law for the Protection of Personal Data in Possession of Obligated Subjects; the Federal Law for the Protection of Personal Data in Possession of Private Parties; and which amended Article 37, Section XV, of the Organic Law of the Federal Public Administration, dated March 20 (Decree), the Council of the Federal Judiciary (CJF) approved General Accord 8/2025, which designates new judicial bodies specializing in matters of transparency and the protection of personal data.
Key points:
- As of July 1, 2025, District Courts and Collegiate Courts of the Thirtieth Circuit, based in Aguascalientes, will be the only courts competent to conduct amparo trials in these matters.
- All pending matters must be remitted to these courts in accordance with the provisions of the Decree, published on March 20, 2025.
- The procedural time limits for these trials have been suspended as of March 21 for up to 180 calendar days (until September 17, 2025), to facilitate this transition.
If you have procedures related to the access of public information or the protection of personal data, it is essential to review the status of these matters and take any possible impact into consideration resulting from the change in jurisdiction.
Our Privacy Team is available to provide an analysis or risk assessment of each case, as well as support in navigating the new jurisdictional bodies.
