Mayra Urrieta has been an associate in the patent department at Arochi & Lindner since 2024. She is an industrial designer and has more than 22 years of experience, specializing in state-of-the-art searches, the analysis of potential infringement risks on the rights of third parties, the preparation of technical opinions regarding registrability, and advising on protection and litigation strategies. Her experience includes proceedings for the administrative declarations of nullity, revocation, cancellation, and infringement in industrial designs and trademarks.
Prior to joining Arochi & Lindner, Mayra collaborated in the area of Industrial Design and Utility Model Registrations at the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI). In 2015, she was invited by the Japan Patent Office to attend and participate in the Training Course of the Substantive Examination of Industrial Design in Tokyo, Japan. She also participated in the Training Course on Design under the Hague System in Tokyo, Japan, in 2019. She previously attended the Regional Training Course for Patent Examiners from Latin American Countries, and she was a participant and moderator at the International Symposium of Industrial Design held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in September 2014.
Mayra graduated from the Metropolitan Autonomous University, Xochimilco Campus (UAM-X), where she obtained her degree as an industrial designer. In addition, she completed a diploma in plastics at the Plastics Business Center (Centro Empresarial del Plástico), where she received recognition for best project. She later obtained a master’s degree in industrial design from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where she received an honorable mention and a recommendation for the Antonio Caso Medal. In continuation of her academic studies, she also completed a diploma in digital photography at the EduMac Digital Arts School.
For the last 13 years, Mayra has been teaching courses on intellectual property as a tool in design in the postgraduate program of Industrial Design at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
