New Director General of the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property

Please be advised that a new Director General of the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) will replace Santiago Nieto as of June. Vidal Llerenas Morales is the new DG of the IMPI, who previously served as the Deputy Secretary of Industry and Commerce at the Secretary of Economy.

As the new head of the institute, Llerenas Morales announced that the IMPI will serve as a driver of innovation, investment, and economic growth. Llerenas Morales’s mission will be to consolidate the IMPI’s strategic role of fostering innovation, protecting industrial property, and advancing Mexico’s economic development.

In addition, the new Director General will implement the reforms to the Federal Law for the Protection of Industrial Property from April 2026, as well as its new Regulation.
