Francisco Alvarez is an associate in the Patent Department of Arochi and Lindner’s Mexico office since 2010. He is a qualified Chemist with more than 10 years of experience in patent practice with a focus on the chemical, food, beverage, health care, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and tobacco industries.

Besides performing opinion work in the areas of prior art searches and technical consultation regarding the patentability of inventions, Freedom-To-Operate and non-infringement analysis, Francisco also has substantial experience in patent prosecution, including the preparation of patent applications, prosecuting patent applications at the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), and coordinating patent prosecution abroad in foreign jurisdictions, as well as responding to official requirements and official actions.

He also provides patentability, patent validity and infringement counseling from a technical perspective to assist clients in business planning. His experience includes six years as Patent Examiner at the IMPI’s Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Division.

Francisco holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. In addition, he has served as lecturer at several conferences and seminars, including the Patentability Criteria seminar organized by the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AMPPI) that took place in Mexico City in 2009.
