Mauricio Caballero is an associate in the Patent Department of Arochi and Lindner’s Mexico office since 2011. He is a trained Biological and Pharmaceutical Chemist with more than 15 years of experience in patent practice focusing in the chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

He has a substantial expertise as a technical specialist in patent strategies; patent litigation including both, infringement and nullity actions; prior art searches and technical opinions on patentability of an invention; Freedom-To-Operate and non-infringement analysis; as well as preparing and prosecuting applications at Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) and coordinating patent prosecution abroad in foreign jurisdictions.

His experience includes 11 years as Supervisor and Patent Examiner at IMPI during which he was the Mexican delegate of the Committee of Experts and the Working Group on the Review of the International Patent Classification (IPC) in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for about 6 years. In 2008, he served as VP of the Committee of Experts of the International Patent Classification Union of WIPO in Geneva.

Mauricio holds a Pharmaceutical Biological Chemistry Degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He has also participated in numerous courses of industrial property and plant varieties, including a Diploma in Patent Cycle from the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) in Strasbourg, France and a Certification in Patent Search and Classification granted by the European Patent Office in Hague, Netherlands.
